Word to slides

Last updated 2026-09-20

A Word document already carries the thing a deck needs most: structure. Headings, paragraphs and lists are meaning rather than decoration, and that is the part pastedeck reads. Upload a .docx, and the document's outline becomes the spine of your slides.

Up to 5 slides are free and need no account. Most decks take 30–60 seconds, with no download and no subscription.

How to turn a Word document into slides

Open the tool on this site, choose the Upload a file tab and pick your .docx. The text is read in your browser; we show the character count, not another copy of the document. Nothing is sent until you choose a plan. Pick a visual style, then click the free or paid plan card to continue. Up to 5 slides are free and need no account.

What carries over, and what does not

The text does. Formatting does not:

  • Carries over — headings, paragraphs, lists, the order of sections, and the displayed text of hyperlinks.
  • Does not carry over — photographs and diagrams, Word's fonts and colours, tables as tables, comments, and headers and footers.
  • Deleted text stays deleted — if the document has tracked changes, the words a reviewer removed are not treated as content. You get the document as it reads now.

If a document depends on its charts and diagrams to make sense, it is not a good fit for this tool.

Pasting the text is often better

You can also open the document, copy the text, and use the Paste text tab. That path shows you exactly what the model will receive and avoids any extraction surprises — worth it for long documents or ones with heavy formatting.

Limits worth knowing

  • 50,000 characters of text per deck
  • 10 MB per file, one file at a time
  • No .pptx export: the result is a plain HTML deck on reveal.js, presented in a browser from a link
  • The free tier gives you 3 decks per 24 hours; the FAQ has the detail
