Frequently asked questions

Decks of up to 5 slides are free, and you can generate them without an account and without a card. The free tier allows 3 decks per 24 hours per browser. You pay only when you want a longer deck, and then it is a one-off payment per deck: there is no subscription, no recurring charge and no balance of prepaid units to top up. The tiers and their prices are shown on the page where you choose how many slides you need.

Three things: a file, pasted text, or a link.

• Files — Markdown and plain text (.md, .markdown, .txt), Word (.docx) and PDF (.pdf), one at a time, up to 10 MB. The text is read in your browser before anything is sent, and for Word and PDF files only the text is taken: images, Word styling and PDF page design are not carried into the deck.
• Pasted text — copy the content in and generate; nothing needs to become a file first. Up to 50,000 characters.
• A link — we fetch the page and use its text. This works for ordinary HTML pages. Pages that need JavaScript to build their content come back empty.

One limit applies to all three: the text we read must be 50,000 characters or fewer. A PDF is capped at 100 pages. Longer material is better split into two decks.

Scanned PDFs have no text layer to read, so they are rejected with an explanation rather than producing an empty deck. Paste the content in, or use a text-based PDF instead.

A deck usually takes 30–60 seconds, and longer documents take longer because there is more text to organise. Generation runs as a single request while the page waits, so keep the tab open until it finishes and the deck link appears.

No. The deck is a plain HTML page built on reveal.js, and you present it in the browser; there is no .pptx or PDF file to download and nothing that opens in PowerPoint. If you need an editable PowerPoint file, pastedeck is not the right tool for that deck.

No. There is no account system: you can upload a document and generate a deck anonymously, without giving an email address. The list of decks you have generated is kept in your own browser, so clearing your site data removes that list — the links to the decks themselves keep working.

There is nothing to install and no file to download: you open the deck's link in a browser and present. It is not an offline app — the page loads reveal.js from a CDN, so you need a connection while you present. Inside the deck, the arrow keys or the on-screen arrows move between slides, and the full-screen button in the top-right expands the presentation.

The text of your document is sent to a third-party model API (DeepSeek) to generate the deck, and the finished HTML deck is stored in Cloudflare R2. On the paid path your document text is also stored with our own order record in Cloudflare R2, because the order has to exist before the payment is confirmed; if you gave us a link rather than a file, the address is stored with it. On the free path we do not write your document text into an order record. Anonymous decks and order records are kept for up to 30 days — that is our stated retention policy — and you can email privacy@pastedeck.app to have your material deleted sooner. The privacy policy sets out the full detail.

That usually means the page builds its content with JavaScript, so the HTML our server receives has no text in it — a single-page app or a site that loads its article client-side will behave that way. Try a different link, or open the page, copy the text, and paste it into the paste tab instead.

No. pastedeck has no training pipeline: your document is used only to generate the deck you asked for, and we do not use it to train or improve models or to build advertising profiles. The providers that process the text do so on our instructions, and the privacy policy names each of them.

Yes. Automatic translation is built in: whatever language your document is written in, the deck comes out in the language of the site you are using, so the English site produces an English deck and the Chinese site produces a Chinese deck. Every slide also carries a short speaker summary in its notes.

A free generation that fails costs nothing, and you can simply try again with the same document. On a paid order a failure means no deck was delivered; the order is recorded as failed and generation can be retried, and if you would rather not retry, refunds are handled under the refund terms. Email support@pastedeck.app with the transaction ID and we will look into it.

Refunds follow the refund terms: once generation has run, a refund is in principle not available, because the model compute for your document has already been consumed; you get a full refund if you were charged more than once for the same generation; and if a verified service outage stops you using a generation you paid for for more than 72 hours, you may choose a refund or equivalent compensation. Consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom keep their statutory 14-day cooling-off right. To request one, email support@pastedeck.app with the transaction ID.
