A paper is written for reviewers; a research talk is for an audience that needs the contribution in ten minutes. The useful structure is usually: why the question matters, what was done, what the evidence shows, what remains uncertain, and what the audience should take away.
What you bring
- A PDF paper or preprint
- A literature review note
- A lab meeting summary
How the deck is shaped
- Research question and why it is unresolved
- Method and key assumptions
- Main evidence and interpretation
- Limitations, open questions and next experiment
Where it stops
- It does not redraw figures or reproduce paper tables.
- It does not check citations or statistical claims.
- Long methods sections may need an appendix or a separate deep-dive deck.
